Running your own Rust server gives you full control over the experience: the map, the rules, the mods, and the wipe schedule. Whether you want a chill duo/trio vanilla server, a 2x modded server with kits and teleport, or a heavily customized community project, this section walks you through everything from joining your server for the first time to managing monthly forced wipes. Your Rust server at Wasabi Hosting is managed entirely through the Wasabi Hosting Game Panel, which includes a live console, File Manager, Backups, Schedules, and Startup parameter editing. If you haven’t ordered a server yet, see the card at the bottom of this page.

Vanilla vs. Modded Rust

The first decision for any Rust server owner is whether to run vanilla or modded.
A vanilla server runs the game exactly as Facepunch ships it — no plugins, no modified rates. Vanilla servers appear in the Community tab of the in-game server browser (as long as gameplay isn’t altered) and attract players who want the authentic Rust experience.Vanilla is the easiest to maintain: you only need to keep the server updated and handle wipes.
Modded servers generally grow faster because players filter by rates and plugins, but the Community tab has less competition. Pick the listing that matches your vision — just be aware that installing Oxide or Carbon automatically moves your server to the Modded tab.

Understanding Wipe Cycles

Rust is built around wipes. On the first Thursday of every month, Facepunch releases a mandatory client and server update that forces a map wipe on all servers. Blueprint wipes are optional (unless Facepunch forces one) and are decided by the server owner. Most servers advertise their wipe schedule directly in the server name, for example:
[EU] Wasabi 2x | Solo/Duo/Trio | Weekly | JUST WIPED
Common schedules are weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly. See the full server wipes guide for step-by-step instructions and how to automate wipes with the panel’s Schedules feature.

Why Host Rust with Wasabi?

Rust is one of the most CPU-demanding games to host. Server performance (measured in server FPS) depends almost entirely on single-core CPU speed, and large maps with hundreds of players and entities punish weak hardware hard.
  • AMD Ryzen 7950X3D / 9950X CPUs — the 3D V-Cache on X3D chips is exceptionally effective for Rust’s entity-heavy simulation, keeping server FPS high even on 4500-size maps with high pop.
  • DDR5 RAM and NVMe SSDs — fast map generation, fast saves, fast restarts on forced wipe day.
  • DDoS protection included — GCore-backed protection with 200+ Tbps capacity at no extra cost, on our own network (AS215370).
  • Amsterdam, Frankfurt, and Ashburn (US East) locations for low ping in Europe and North America.
  • Instant setup — your server deploys about 2 minutes after payment, and upgrades keep all your files.

Order Your Rust Server

Rust server hosting from €9.99/month — Ryzen X3D performance, NVMe storage, DDoS protection, and 24/7 support. Deployed in about 2 minutes.
