# Garry's Mod Server Hosting - Getting Started Guide

Welcome to Garry's Mod server hosting at Wasabi Hosting! Garry's Mod (GMod) is one of the most flexible multiplayer sandboxes ever made — the same server can be a physics playground one day and a full roleplay city the next. This page gives you an overview of what your server can do and links you to the right guide for each step.

## Gamemodes

Your server's gamemode defines what players actually do. The most popular options:

## Steam Workshop Addons

Nearly all GMod content — gamemodes, maps, weapons, playermodels, tools — comes from the **Steam Workshop**. Your server can mount an entire Workshop collection at startup, and clients automatically download the content they need when they join. ## Your First Ten Minutes

A typical setup flow for a new GMod server looks like this:

1. **Join your server** — grab the address from the panel and connect ([guide](/games/garrysmod/join-server)).
2. **Set your hostname and basics** — edit `garrysmod/cfg/server.cfg` via the File Manager ([guide](/games/garrysmod/server-configuration)).
3. **Add Workshop content** — mount a collection and set up client downloads ([guide](/games/garrysmod/workshop-addons)).
4. **Install an admin mod** — ULX or SAM to manage players ([guide](/games/garrysmod/admin-commands)).
5. **Pick your gamemode** — stay on Sandbox or switch to DarkRP, TTT, and beyond.
